hopefully this letter finds you all in good health. Today when I was mining for gold, some one stole all that I had worked for. It was a total of $300. I am very sorry to tell you this news, since this was for fathers operation. All the money that I can send you in this letter is the $100 dollars that I have in my hat. I am very sorry to burden you with this and I am trying to dig up more gold, but with every day there is less and less gold to go around. I was, as you know, very lucky to get the spot I have.
